Collaroy

Perry Street

The build

Sitting atop of Collaroy Plataeu and high on the ridge line, this existing brick and concrete home had 270 degree views of the Pennisula.
After extensive planning by Sally Gardner Design and Draft, the plans were executed, approved and we were engaged to bring this old home some much needed new life.

This new design included an extensive re-build of this home, with a large amount of masonry demolition.
The new design allowed for a complete new lower, ground and upper floor layout including kitchen and bathrooms. The new floor layout created the base for an exciting new roofline matching into an existing steep pitched roof. The roof was covered with a terracotta baked slate tile. The external finish consisted of painted face brickwork and timber cladding. All new timber windows and doors were installed throughout.
Some amazing features were constructed in this home with the use of reclaimed hardwood. Reclaimed girder beams from a country railway bridge were used as hip beams which supported tallowood rafters. Also we reclaimed wharf flooring from an old Sydney wharf, milled and laid throughout the ground floor living areas.

This was a truly enjoyable build with a lot of “one off” elements.
